over 2 years ago – Thu, Aug 12, 2021 at 05:04:18 AM

Dear Earthlings,

There's nothing better than starting the day with a good cup of coffee and reading through your comments! In the previous update we asked where on Earth you'd find the most valuable artefacts in the future and we are LOVING the answers so far! The comment that makes us laugh the most will be next week's lucky winner who gets their pledge for free,  so keep 'em coming! The next winner will be announced next Tuesday.

In the meantime we've almost reached $82,000 on Kickstarter! Keep it going, you are AMAZING! The next Stretch Goal is the Plastic Insert at $90k and yes, there's more to come after that!

"The sexiest game I've ever laid eyes on"

More and more of you are sharing your gaming experiences with Excavation Earth and your kind words humble us! Here's a small selection from people that mentioned us this week:

  • "Excavation Earth from Mighty Boards is one of the best games I played this year. I can see this entering in my top 10 favorite games of all time." - Jose Angel Garza
  • "The solo mode works flawlessly and plays smoothly. [...] damn, I like the game. I even sleeved the cards (the honor is only given to a few games)!" - Tina & Jen
  • "This game is honestly one of the best looking I've ever seen. It's also one of the sexiest games I've laid eyes on." - Seth Chatfield

We couldn't agree more with Seth! All credit for the beautiful art goes to Philipp Kruse and Mark Casha! Philipp is an incredibly talented artist who made the Excavation Earth aliens come to life...

From sketches to game art

We can't thank you enough! Please keep spreading that interstellar love and let's make this an unforgettable campaign!

One Lucky Earthling & Reverse Engineering Unlocked
over 2 years ago – Tue, Aug 10, 2021 at 11:56:31 PM

Almost 1400 of you and another Stretch Goal crushed! Thank you!

You have now also unlocked 3 Reverse Engineering Cards! How do they work? By sending up mysterious artefacts to the command center, players can now acquire Reverse Engineering Cards. Reverse engineering cards give players new enhanced abilities throughout the entire game, as well as extra credits at the end of the game.

Reverse Engineering Cards unlocked!

That's one lucky Earthling!

As promised, every week we will select a lucky Earthling that will get their pledge for free! We asked you what ordinary object would look extremely valuable to the Seekers and Commanders coming to excavate Earth in the future and loved Jacob0gre's answer! "Bagpipes: Are they Octopus pajamas? Group scuba equipment? Strange marionette?" Curious indeed... Congratulations!

Didn't win? Don't worry, you have 2 more chances at winning! Let us know in the comments below where on Earth you'd find the most valuable artefacts in the future? Back at any pledge level from the Custodian pledge level upwards, comment and you’ll automatically have a chance to win your pledge back! Good luck everyone!

Solo or with friends?

We're very curious to find out how many of you prefer Excavation Earth as a solo game or as a 2/3/4 player game!  Let us know in the comments below or post a picture of your set up on the Facebook community page. Who knows, you might even find some new gaming friends there!

Happy excavating!

Designer Diary & more Stretch Goals unlocked!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Aug 06, 2021 at 04:24:35 AM

Earthlings! We keep being blown away by all your support... Almost 1200 backers?! THANK YOU!

You have now also unlocked the second set of Alternate Tiles "Things that go round".  And you guessed it, we'd love to hear your suggestions for these tiles too! So far, we've only designed two of those Tiles: a disco ball and a fidget spinner! What object that goes round would catch the attention of the aliens? Let us know in the comments below! The three best suggestions will become part of the Alternate Tile Promo Pack of It Belongs in a Museum!

These Alternate Tiles replace tiles with the same color and value in the base game. They are a purely aesthetic change, placing much more remnant diversity in the abandoned human world.

Turczi's Designer Diary

Ever wonder how board games are designed? In the third part of his designer diary, renowned board game designer Dávid Turczi talks about the creation of this new expansion for Excavation Earth: It Belongs in a Museum!

The making of Excavation Earth: It Belongs in a Museum!

If you want to know more,  you can read all about the making of Excavation Earth on the Mighty Boards blog. You will find the two original designer diaries there. In the first part of his designer diary, Dávid Turczi talked about the origins of the game that would come to be Excavation Earth. How did the game go from there to alien treasure hunters digging up human garbage for their art galleries? Find out in the second part of the designer diary!

New to Excavation Earth?

Never played Excavation Earth? First of all, welcome to the Excavation Earth universe and THANK YOU for backing and believing in us! Both Tabletopia or Tabletop Simulator have now implemented the new expansion, so feel free to give it a go online!

Do you prefer to see live how Excavation Earth plays? Slickerdrips will do a livestream of the base game today August 6th at 5pm CET on his Twitch channel!

Keep excavating and spreading that interstellar love! Don't forget you have a chance to win your pledge back...

Interstellar Stretch Goals unlocked, more to come!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Aug 04, 2021 at 08:01:39 PM

You are the absolute BEST! 3 Stretch Goals unlocked already?! THANK YOU!

Not only have you unlocked 3 brand new Achievement Cards, you also unlocked the "Things that surprise you" Alternate Tiles! And the next Stretch Goal is already on the horizon...

The Achievement Cards were introduced in the Second Wave expansion and allow players to shoot for specific goals. Some only require light planning while others require a heavy commitment and pose a challenge! These newly unlocked achievement cards enhance the Second Wave module with goals that tie it with the new It Belongs in a Museum expansion.

Things that surprise you

You also unlocked a new set of Alternate Art tiles! These tiles replace tiles with the same color and value in the base game. They are a purely aesthetic change, placing much more remnant diversity in the  abandoned human world.

This new set is what the aliens classified as things that surprised them. So far, we've only designed two of those Tiles. We want to give YOU the opportunity to put your choices into the game! So... what artefact would surprise you? Let us know in the comments below! The three best suggestions will become part of the Alternate Tile Promo Pack of It Belongs in a Museum!

Interstellar love

Excavation Earth has been receiving a LOT of love and we can't thank you enough! Without you, we wouldn't be able to continue expanding this wonderful universe!

Have you seen the beautiful images that Imagine All the Meeple, Tabletopping and Table for ONE have been posting all over social media and on BGG? Go give them some love!

Will you also help us share that interstellar love? Tell your friends, family, colleagues, neighbors and extraterrestrial buddies and let's crush this Kickstarter!
